FlaminGO is back on the road – with extra COVID-19 measures

FlaminGO is back on the road
(with extra COVID-19 measures)

Dirt roads & clean cars is our new motto for 2020.

May 19, 2020

#BREAKINGNEWS – we’re back exploring the wild, wild west coast of Portugal near Lisbon, just with new hygiene and safety measures in response to COVID-19.

Many hours, days and wine bottles have been spent staring out windows of inner-city apartments waiting – respectfully – for the time to escape quarantine. Days spent dreaming about warm sunshine, cool breezes, lush landscapes and the salty sea. Dreams about epic adventures wandering ancient forests and long afternoons with friends on the sand.

In Portugal the time has come to venture out again. Here at FlaminGO we’re ready to welcome you back with warm elbow taps, sparkling eyes, infectious laughter and disinfected jeeps.

Portugal was and – most importantly –  still is one of the safest (and best) countries in Europe. We’ve been fortunate to have a relatively low number of infections because the COVID-19 situation was taken seriously from the beginning – our small country and proud people proved that being united made us stronger.

We’ve adapted with new measures

To keep our guests and staff safe while having fun we’ve added new measures to our experiences and transfers. These include:

  • Lower capacity limits, according to legislation
  • Temperature checks for staff each morning
  • Temperature checks for guests on arrival
  • Masks, gloves and hand sanitiser available for guests
  • Masks to be worn by all staff and guests
  • All vehicles are disinfected daily and between groups
  • We are prioritising our jeeps with a convertible roof for better airflow
  • We are avoiding busy routes (it helps that we always go off-road anyway!)
  • We will only stop at restaurants and establishments that comply with legislation
  • Disposable cutlery will be available for food, when applicable

Our staff have been trained

Our staff have completed special training in order to comply with the new hygiene and safety regulations. Turismo de Portugal has given us the “Clean & Safe” seal, which certifies that we follow additional hygiene procedures to keep our guests safe. After all, maximum levels of safety = maximum levels of fun.

Our experiences are ready

We’re grateful that our day trips and journeys were already focused on being outdoors, exploring remote parts of Sintra-Cascais Natural Park and taking quiet off-road dirt tracks in our convertible 4×4 UMM jeeps.

Our key points of difference – avoiding crowds and tourist traps, keeping group sizes small and personal or private – means we are ready for you and your travel needs in 2020.

  • Our restored jeeps seat up to 7 people. We are reducing that limit and making it easier and cheaper for families, friends and even couples to book the whole car for a private journey.
  • We drive through remote spots of the incredible Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.
  • We travel on quieter and unknown dirt tracks in our 4WD vehicles.
  • Most of our fleet is roofless, allowing for plenty of airflow.
  • Your host will sit in the front with a mask on, with your group in the back.

We waited patiently at home, but now the time has come to play again. Get your heartbeat racing, adrenaline pumping and feel alive as we bounce along the wild west coast in a restored UMM jeep. Nature doesn’t stop for anyone, and right now spring is blooming.

To welcome you back we’re offering a 10% discount on all bookings with the code “GO10”.
